Printer Connectivity Troubleshooting Protocol

  1. Open Router Admin (192.168.1.1) → Find your printer’s current IP address
  2. Assign a static IP to the printer (e.g., 192.168.1.150) to prevent IP conflicts on reconnect
  3. On your router, confirm printer is connecting to the 2.4GHz band only — rename bands if needed
  4. On your PC, Devices & Printers → Right-click → Set as Default. Restart Print Spooler service
Sync error · Driver

Driver Installation/Error Resolution

  1. Open Services.msc → Find ‘Print Spooler’ → Clear files in C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
  2. Uninstall all existing printer software from Control Panel completely
  3. Download the Full Feature Driver from the manufacturer’s official website (not a third-party site)
  4. Restart Print Spooler service and re-run the installer as Administrator
Urgent · Hardware

Paper Jam / Hardware Service

  1. Power off the printer completely — never pull paper while powered
  2. Open all access panels (rear, front, tray) and gently remove jammed paper in the direction of paper travel
  3. If jam is deep in the feed mechanism, or if rollers are visibly worn — a physical service is required

Hardware jams beyond Step 3 require an on-site specialist.

Networking Protocols

Router band splitting, mesh systems, and IP conflict resolution.

Guidance applies to common consumer routers and mesh systems. We are an independent consultancy and are not affiliated with any router manufacturer.

Network · Connectivity

WiFi Band Splitting (2.4GHz vs 5GHz)

  1. Open Router Admin (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) → Log in with admin credentials
  2. Navigate to Wireless Settings → Give the 2.4GHz band a unique name (e.g., “HomeNet_2GT”) and the 5GHz band a different name (e.g., “HomeNet_5G”)
  3. Connect printers, cameras, and smart home devices to 2.4GHz only. Connect phones/laptops to 5GHz.
Network · Range

WiFi Extender / Mesh Node Pairing

  1. Place extender midway between your router and dead zone — not at the edge of coverage
  2. Factory reset the extender (hold reset button for 30s), then follow WPS pairing (press WPS on router then on extender within 2 minutes)
  3. Assign extender SSID the same name as your router → devices will roam mesh automatically
Urgent · IP conflict

Persistent IP Address Conflict

  1. Open Router Admin → IP Reservations → Check if two devices share the same IP
  2. Expand the router IP address range (e.g., from .100 – .150 to .100 – .200) to accommodate all devices
  3. Assign static/reserved IPs to all printers and cameras by MAC address to prevent future conflicts

Urgent · Connectivity

Device Offline / No WiFi

  1. Open Router Admin Page (192.168.1.1)
  2. Split WiFi bands: Rename 2.4GHz & 5GHz differently
  3. Connect device only to 2.4GHz network
Sync error

Base Station Not Pairing

  1. Factory Reset Base Station (hold pin for 10s)
  2. Remove device from app account completely
  3. Retry pairing while phone is on same WiFi
Urgent · Power

Battery Draining Fast

  1. Lower ‘Motion Sensitivity’ to ~40%
  2. Turn off HDR and ‘Color Night Vision’
  3. Check signal strength (RSSI must be better than -65)
Video

Pink / Purple Tint

  1. Power cycle camera (Remove battery for 1 min)
  2. Place strong magnet near the side of the lens
  3. Tap gently to unstick the IR Cut Filter
Night vision

Blurry Night Video

  1. Clean lens with microfiber cloth
  2. Ensure no wall is reflecting IR light (Glass)
  3. Toggle ‘Night Vision’ off and on in app
Urgent · Hardware

Doorbell Not Ringing

  1. Verify Transformer is 16V – 24V AC
  2. Check ‘Chime Type’ (Digital vs Mechanical)
  3. Install Power Kit on the indoor chime box
