1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function properly, improve user experience, and provide analytics information.

2. Your Choices — What the Cookie Banner Does

When you first visit the site, a banner asks you to make a choice. Your selection is remembered for 12 months in a first-party cookie/local storage key named bun_cookieConsent. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for bookusnerds.com, which will cause the banner to reappear on your next visit.

Here is exactly what each button does:

  • Accept All. You allow all cookie categories described below: essential, analytics, and advertising / targeting / conversion measurement. The consent-mode signals analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization are all set to granted.
  • Essential Only. You allow only the essential cookies needed to make the site work. Analytics and advertising signals remain denied — our analytics provider will not record your visit and our advertising provider will not log a conversion or build a targeting audience based on it.
  • Reject All. Functionally the same as “Essential Only” on this site: analytics and advertising signals stay denied. Essential cookies remain active because the site cannot operate without them (see Section 3).

Until you make a choice, all non-essential categories default to denied via an industry-standard consent-mode framework, which is loaded as the very first script on every page.

3. Essential Cookies (Always Active)

These are required for basic functionality of the site and cannot be disabled through the banner. They do not track you across other websites and are not used for advertising.

4. Analytics Cookies (Off Until You Accept)

If you choose “Accept All,” we use a third-party website analytics service to understand which pages are popular and how visitors find us. The analytics provider sets first-party cookies in your browser and processes the data on its own servers. We have IP-anonymization enabled at the property level.

The analytics provider’s use of this data is governed by its own privacy policy. You can opt out of analytics tracking on this and other sites by choosing “Essential Only” or “Reject All” in our cookie banner, by enabling Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser, or by installing a browser-level analytics-opt-out add-on.

5. Advertising, Targeting & Conversion Cookies (Off Until You Accept)

If you choose “Accept All,” we use third-party advertising and conversion-measurement tags to measure which campaigns led to a booking inquiry and to show relevant promotional content to people who have visited us. These cookies are set when you arrive from a paid campaign click or when our conversion tag fires (currently on the Services and Pricing pages).

You can adjust or opt out of personalized advertising through the industry resources listed in Section 7 below, or by enabling Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser. The advertising providers’ own use of any data collected is governed by their respective privacy policies.

6. Categories of Third Parties

For CCPA/CPRA disclosure, the categories of third parties with whom information collected through cookies may be shared are:

  • Analytics providers — a third-party website-analytics service that helps us measure traffic and page performance.
  • Advertising, targeting, and conversion-measurement providers — third-party advertising networks that help us measure paid-campaign performance and deliver relevant promotional content.
  • Content delivery and font providers — web-font services and a public CDN that hosts our icon library. These do not set tracking cookies but may log IP addresses as part of normal HTTP serving.

BookUsNerds does not use social-media pixels, session-replay tools, or behavioral-tracking platforms on this website. If we add any new third-party tag in the future, we will update this list and the consent banner before the tag is allowed to fire.

7. Managing Cookies in Your Browser

In addition to the banner choices above, you can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling essential cookies may affect site functionality, including the booking and contact forms.

You may also manage advertising and targeting cookie preferences through these industry resources:

Advertising opt-out:
Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool

Targeting opt-out:
Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tool

California residents may also exercise the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information collected through cookies via our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.

8. Updates to This Cookie Policy

BookUsNerds reserves the right to update or modify this Cookie Policy at any time.

Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
